Yesterday Kim and I went over to the Honors House right as I got off of work for a BBQ. As usual there was good food but this time around there was a show to boot!
Liam is probably the most intelligent person I know, yet one subject we can relate on is blow'n shit up... while I prefer the modified firecracker, Liam sticks to chemicals.
Well, on a down note... I can't get my external hard drive to work... it was doing great two days ago, but now my computer can't read it and suggests I format the drive, ehck! I'm still looking for a recovery program and the CD that came with the drive might also have some useful software... If I can't get anything back though I will only be loosing two years of photos... LOL, crap, I've only been shooting for a little over two and a half years. Ok, so, I have eight months worth of photos if I do in fact lose all those files. There is some pretty cool stuff on there, but honestly I think my better stuff has been within the last eight months... pff, whatever, that is still two years of photos down the drain...

The BLOB Returns?
Heh, boy have I not posted in sometime.
This'll just be short, I'll do a real one tomorrow.
Cuz this is just a lil random...
So tonight, Kim and I were planning on going to an Old Testament Party (theme party) but decided to skip and just chill at the house, this is the first free weekend we've had in a while. Anyway, to get to my point, we decided to watch The Blob tonight, the 1950's version, the movie is just so damn'd cheesy! If you have never seen the 50's version (sorry to ruin it for those that haven't) you know that in the end the blob is sent to the arctic because it is vulnerable to cold temperatures...
It has been stated in the news recently that the north pole is melting, I really think the world governments should get together and resolve this current crisis... cuz the Blob WILL KILL EVERYONE if it thaws out!!!!! We shouldn't be concerned with global warming... I mean... it is a problem... but, I think the Blob is a more serious issue... although, if it were to kill of the the human race... I'm sure the earth would be a lot better off with all of us dead... hm.
I was born in the wrong decade...

not so hands on...
So, I don't think I've come to terms with being a "photographer" yet... especially since all my work is digital these days. I miss film, I miss the darkroom, I miss actually making something, as opposed to sitting on my ass staring at a computer for hours. Film is dying and I don't want it to. Curse me for loving something that revolves around technological advancements. Bleh.
Heheh, I'm done, my rants are so short lived.
I think as a gift to myself I'll purchase some of the tools required to have my own dark room from the school (somehowi'lldoit) since they don't use ANY of that stuff!
...and the smell of fresh chemicals at 3am...

"Thank you for calling..."
"...your 24 hour Walgreens, this is Hershel in Photo speaking, how may I help you."
(you bet your sweet little hide there is a smile in my voice)
So, as of a few weeks ago I am officially the "Head Photo Specialist" (that means a dollar pay raise and a metric s*** ton of responsibility).
I am in the process of cleaning out and re-organizing the photo lab, the place is such a mess. Whilst in the midst of beakers, chemicals, expired paper, tubes, buckets and corroded something or others my manager informs me that the lab hasn't been thoroughly cleaned/organized since she was the HPS (I think that was around 4 or more years ago). BUT! I am almost done, since I've been doing this sine the day they promoted me.
----
This semester has gone by way too fast... the only things I really remember are going to school, and going to work... I'm pretty behind in most classes... mmm, yeah. Just checked. I am. This summer will be such a relief! Not being required to do anything but work is gonna be one heck of a vacation! (that is what it seems like now anyway) I'm not sure how I'll take to fall classes... bleh... school... bleh. I am definitely one of those people that college was not meant for, but by God I'm gonna finish!
----
Just got a phone call from one of me boys, Mr. Morgan Victor Chesky, so I have totally lost my train of thought... if I had one to begin with.
It is nice to have good friends that no matter how long it has been since you last spoke, it seems as if you had just hung out yesterday.
The last time I did any sort of camping/backpacking was about three years ago with Morgan and two friends of ours... Big Bend National Park... it was a rather lax, I think it was only about 50 or so miles, in five or so days... hmm. I think I'm well past due for a week or more spent in the amazing outdoors. HAH! and now I can bring a flip'n camera!
Ok, back to doing what I should be doing... you can't tell me to go be productive (and have some goal in mind), cause I'll find something else to do (I can rarely make myself do what I should).

Dang it!
we shall see... the Xenon tube busted I just need to buy a new one for 10 bucks and solder it back in.
On the up side (not sure if this will happen or not yet), I think Kim and I might be going to Maine.

and thus it has begun-ed
Today was a rather enriching day (especially for being my first day of classes). Today I only had two classes, on Thursday I will have three, consisting of photography and commercial art (and then a computer education course AKA microsoft word for five year olds - I'm going to kill myself in there). Both of the art classes are taught by the same teacher that I can't stand! This time around I do believe things will be different. The photography department has gone completely digital and upgraded to a room stocked with the G5 iMacs and Adobe Creative Suite 3. In photography class this morning my professor vowed to be less likable and more of a instructor/ass (which is funny because I like him as a person, but despise him as a professor). On top of this, as oppose to the normal 4-6 assignments we do per semester, the class will now be required to turn in around 10 completed photos every week (shit yeah!) along with the 4-6 main assignments.
When I got to my communication art class I was in fear of doing things in Photoshop that I had learned in high school... BUT, we will be strictly working in flash and dreamweaver!!!! So I won't be doing ALL the lame simple things other art students have been complaining about since the class had first been offered. I'm going to have to do a lot of reading up on the subject since I don't know shit about flash. This class is gonna be awesome... although I am knocking on wood at the moment so as not to jinx myself... :/
In other news... I think the macbook air come out today... what a waist of money! Mac is becoming what North Face has become to the wealthy.....
That is all I have to say about that.
